Key Responsibilities:

Create a developmentally appropriate, emergent curriculum based on students’ interests and needs

Foster a play-based learning environment where social-emotional development is central

Integrate nature, art, music, movement, and storytelling into daily experiences

Collaborate with colleagues and families to support each child’s growth

Document learning through observation, reflection, and creative assessment strategies

Model and incorporate Quaker testimonies (simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship) into classroom life

Qualifications:

Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (or working toward one)

Experience working with 3- and 4-year-olds in a preschool setting

Knowledge of child development, play-based pedagogy, and emergent curriculum

Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit

ELEMENTARY TEACHER

The ideal candidate embraces a project-based, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and isn’t afraid to get messy—whether that means digging in the garden, building prototypes, or collaborating with students on meaningful inquiries that connect to real-world challenges.

Design and implement a responsive, progressive curriculum that supports the developmental needs of elementary learners

Use a studio/workshop approach to literacy, grounded Science of Reading and a deep understanding of emergent and early literacy practices

Employ a hands-on, problem-solving approach to mathematics using manipulatives and real-life contexts

Facilitate inquiry-driven science and social studies units rooted in project-based learning

Utilize standardized, non-standardized, formative, and performance-based assessment strategies

Foster strong partnerships with families and maintain open, compassionate communication

Collaborate with colleagues to support an integrated, inclusive, and equitable learning environment

Integrate technology in meaningful and developmentally appropriate ways

Commit to ongoing professional growth with a focus on social justice, cultural competence, and inclusive practices

Actively engage with and model Quaker testimonies in classroom practice and school life
Qualifications:

Teaching experience at the elementary level, preferably in progressive or independent schools

A passion for inquiry-based, experiential learning

Strong classroom management grounded in respect, relationships, and reflection

Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in education

Comfort and familiarity with Quaker values and practices (experience in a Quaker school is a plus)
