✨ Yesterday, our Penn and Fox Classes (1st-3rd grades) went on an amazing field trip to the Museum of Indian Culture!

The wonderful presenter took us on a journey through the history and traditions of the Lenape. We learned so much—from how they built wigwams and crafted boats, to the genius of “Three Sisters” farming (corn, squash, and beans 🌽🫘).

We got to see traditional gardening tools, seasonal clothing, and animal skins, learning how nothing was ever wasted. But the highlights were definitely hearing traditional stories, learning a song with handmade instruments, and playing some awesome games! 🎶🎯

Beyond the history, the trip left us with beautiful lessons on respecting nature, learning from animals, and being true stewards of the earth. 🌍💚

On Saturday, April 18, several of our teachers attended the 2026 Preschool-to-2nd-Grade Educators Diversity Summit. Throughout the day, they participated in engaging discussions and professional learning centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion in early childhood education.

The summit emphasized the importance of beginning conversations about diversity, equity, and social justice at an early age, while also providing practical, age-appropriate tools that reflect the authentic diversity of our world. It created valuable opportunities for discussion, connection, and ongoing support among educators. We’re excited for our teachers to bring these insights and strategies back to our classrooms to support all learners.

They build race cars from recycled materials and learn how forces and motion shape the world. They explore Greek mythology and then walk through the Penn Museum, seeing ancient history up close.

But beyond the academics, they're developing something harder to teach: how to listen carefully, work through a hard problem, collaborate with others, and trust that starting over is part of learning. It begins as young as age 1 with our First Light Program and grows all the way through 5th grade.

🛠️ Our K-8 students just wrapped up an incredible Race Car Challenge this afternoon! Using nothing but recycled materials, our engineers built custom cars to put their physics knowledge to the test.

🎈We saw gravity, forces, and motion in action as cars flew down the ramps! Our Middle School students leveled up using balloons, rubber bands, or mousetraps to power their engines.

What amazing cars and races! ✨

⭐️ In the Rustin kindergarten classroom, mathematicians are learning that numbers tell stories—and some are greater than others! Working together, students explored how to find the greater number using playful comparison and careful thinking. With the help of the “greater gator,” children learned that the gator’s mouth always opens toward the bigger number because it’s extra hungry for more. Through partner talk, hands-on materials, and lots of joyful discussion, students practiced comparing numbers, explaining their thinking, and cheering one another on. This collaborative math work builds confidence, strengthens number sense, and shows that learning is even better when we do it together. 🐊➕

Whether it’s younger students helping in simple, hands-on ways on campus or older students working alongside community partners, these experiences invite children to slow down, notice others, and take responsibility in age-appropriate ways.

⛄️ Nothing beats outdoor play, even in the snow! Our students enjoyed recess sliding down the snow hill, playing in the snow, and soaking up some winter sunshine. What a joy it was to hear the giggles and chatter of friends having fun together in the snow! ❄️
