Sports and Athletic Programs
UFS offers several seasonal sports programs for students. Through our sports program, we recognize and foster the invaluable experience team sports provide our students in building confidence, gaining healthy exercise habits for life, working in a team, and learning the lessons of winning and losing. Our teams practice two to four times a week after school and compete with other local independent schools. Our coaches use a philosophy of inclusivity and focus on the experience.
- Fall: Soccer- open to students in grades 4-8
- Winter: Basketball- open to students in grades 4-8
- Spring: Track and Field- open to students grades 3-8
Any student who plans to participate in UFS after-school athletics during any of the sport seasons will be required to complete and submit a physical form. Students who are required to have a physical for enrollment in 6th grade can use that physical for athletics and vice versa.
After School Program
The After-School Program (ASP) runs from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm and available to full-day UFS students only. Each session begins with snacks and drinks, which are provided at no additional cost. Children often play outdoors, spend time in our Big Room playing games, participate in planned activities, or just relax/read. Children have the option of doing homework during ASP hours. Our purpose is to provide a safe, fun and interactive program that is in harmony with the mission of the school. The hourly rate is $9.00.
After School Enrichment
United Friends School is dedicated to our students’ enrichment and diversity of experiences. After School Enrichment classes are held on the UFS campus and instructed by qualified instructors. Enrichment classes are subject to additional fees and age requirements.Learn More
Based on the availability of resources, the school receives the following supplemental services from the Intermediate Unit and Catapult Learning: educational testing for referred students from a certified school psychologist, speech and language services, and remedial reading and math. These services are intended to provide supplemental support to students in regular education programs.
Students provide their own lunches and drinks. We strongly encourage families to pack well-balanced, nutritious lunches and snacks. All lunches and drinks should be packed in re-sealable containers. We have an active composting program for all fruit and vegetable waste, and, when possible, send home all trash and leftovers in lunch boxes. We are dedicated to teaching our students to avoid creating excess waste and encourage them to use thermoses instead of disposable juice packs, etc. Soda is NOT permitted at UFS lunch or snack times.
Pizza Day – Tuesday
Pizza is delivered fresh and hot from Dominick’s Pizza. Parents and caregivers are asked to provide vegetables and/or fruit for your child to balance the lunch
