Gender’s Role – discussion led by Colleen Clemens and Ryan Glover

Join us in a conversation about gender’s role in play, schooling, social interactions and life.

Wednesday November 19th
6:00-7:30 PM

The Diversity Committee invites you to attend a community wide discussion about gender. Participate in an open discussion led by Colleen Clemens and Ryan Glover on gender’s impact and influence on children’s social, academic and emotional development. Explore topics such as gender specific play, gender specific language and gender specific messages in schooling.

This event is open to United Friends School families and friends, as well as 7th and 8th grade students.

Light refreshments and childcare will be provided.

Colleen Clemens is an assistant professor of Non-Western Literatures at Kutztown University. She earned her Ph.D. in Post-Colonial Literature with a focus on Gender Studies at Lehigh University.

Ryan Glover is a first/second grade teacher at UFS. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Spelman College and a Master’s in Comparative and International Education from Lehigh University
