Stem Design Challenge – K’Nex

Ten teams of UFS students participated in a highly competitive statewide competition at The Bucks County IU in Doylestown last week. Students in both 5/6 and 7/8 worked on the K’Nex challenge project during Kathy’s science class. Every team designed and built a “people mover” vehicle entirely out of K’Nex and an environmentally friendly themed obstacle for the vehicle to encounter. Teams also drew detailed blue prints that showed exactly how to construct the vehicle, a narration essay describing the steps taken to complete the project, and a two-minute presentation about the vehicle design. At the competition each team member delivered a part of the presentation and then demonstrated to the judges how the K’Nex vehicle worked.
