I am pleased to announce that Carol Robinson, our Anthony Class teacher, has accepted the position of Middle School Social Studies, 6th grade math, and 7th grade homeroom advisor. We are delighted to have Carol move into this position and look forward to the insight and energy she will bring to the Middle School. Although we are sad to see Louis leave, I know that Carol will quickly become a significant member of the Middle School team and key to the continued rollout of our Middle School STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) curriculum. Carol began teaching at UFS in 2008 and has 17 years teaching experience. Her student teaching was in Niger and she taught at Johnston Elementary School in North Carolina and various schools in England. Carol holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and has done graduate work in this country and abroad. Carol is a lifelong learner and has traveled within Europe, Central America and Africa. Carol embraces children’s different learning styles and provides a variety of challenging, interesting, and exciting educational experiences and promotes respect within the classroom. She enjoys traveling, reading, writing, technology, and gardening. Carol lives in Emmaus with her husband Mark and her daughter Katie. Please join me in welcoming Carol to her new role.
Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Peter Goode as our new Technology Manager. Peter is an experienced and Microsoft/Apple certified IT professional with a background in project and database management, IT support and troubleshooting, and training. He has a degree from Norwich City College in electronics and electrical engineering and was trained in aerospace systems in the Royal Air Force. With this strong technology and engineering background, Peter is looking forward to a career change into the world of education and on developing, applying and passing on skills through the application and review of new technologies. Peter will be providing an after school technology class and is looking forward to working with the Middle School in their one-to-one laptop program, as well as being an integral part of the STEAM program. Peter enjoys music, going to the movie theater, watching the local IronPigs baseball team, golfing, and bicycling. He and his wife live in Whitehall. Please join me in welcoming Peter to UFS.
A hiring committee has been formed for a new Anthony Class and algebra teacher. I will keep you informed of our progress.
I hope you are enjoying your summer and a bit of rest and relaxation.
With best wishes,
